NEWARK, N.J., July 17 (Nationwide Times) — Panasonic is recalling 13,664 electric toaster ovens in the United States and Canada after federal regulators said a power cord insulation problem could create a shock and fire hazard for shoppers who bought the appliances online.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the recall covers Panasonic model NB-G200 ovens sold on Amazon.com, Costco.com, Panasonic.com and other online platforms nationwide from October 2024 through April 2026 for about $170. The agency said about 11,480 units were sold in the U.S. and about 2,184 in Canada.

The recalled units are stainless steel models with the temperature knob on the bottom and the Panasonic brand name on the front. The CPSC said the insulation issue stems from a protective fiberglass sleeve that may not fully cover the cord.

The commission said it has received four reports of tripped circuit breakers or outlets and one report that the product stopped working, but no fires or injuries. Panasonic told Costco members who bought Item #2024930 between February 2026 and April 2026 to stop using the toaster oven immediately and return it either to Panasonic or to a Costco Warehouse Customer Service Window for a full refund.
