ANNAPOLIS, Md., June 22 (DC Times Online) — Maryland state election officials removed Ian Andre Roberts from the voter rolls on June 2, a move Republican Delegate Matt Morgan says shows why he believes trust in the state’s elections has weakened.

State election records cited in recent reporting show Roberts had been registered in Maryland for more than a decade and had been registered twice. The records also show absentee ballots were mailed to him.

Morgan, who chairs the Maryland House Freedom Caucus, said the case shows the state waited too long to act. “This is exactly why Marylanders have lost faith in our elections,” he said.

In January, Maryland elections administrator Jared DeMarinis warned against “improper cancellation,” a reference to removing eligible voters from the rolls. The case has also drawn congressional scrutiny, with Rep. Bryan Steil saying the investigation would continue.
